Oh, little Gregory still got into lots of trouble doing teenage boy stuff. But little Gregory wasn’t little anymore. At six feet, he stood a head taller than his sister. No matter how tall he became, he was always Missy’s little brother and she still watched over him. They talked about everything. Sometimes they confided in each other about good or painful foster home experiences when they weren’t together. They felt grateful to those who took them in. Many foster parents had shown love as they shared their homes and families for as long as they could. Each foster home added, in some small way, to whom they had become. Missy went to college and Gregory worked full time getting regular promotions.

Melissa A. Bradex resides in Bakersfield, California with her husband and 5 children. She has been an elementary school teacher since 2000. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and her Masters in the Art of Education. Melissa and her little brother Gregory were placed in the foster care system at a young age.
