A Diplomat’s Daughter is the story, written from diaries and memories, of the author during her life in Pakistan as a diplomat’s daughter. Her father was an American diplomat in Pakistan in 1979 when the United States Embassy burned down and a young Marine, Steven Crowley, gave his life to protect the American diplomats and their families. Montes retells the historical events from the perspective of a young girl struggling with growing up among cultural turmoil and the personal human interactions that she found makes us more alike than different.

Victoria Montes lives in Tehachapi, California with her two sons. She has lived many years of her life in Africa and South East Asia as well as being stationed in Germany as a MP in the Army. It is her desire to bring people of diverse cultures together in a spirit of understanding and cooperation. Victoria teaches high school and writes for a local newspaper as well as giving her free time to help other aspiring writers.
