Richard Mallard
Dick joined the California Army National Guard at 18 and was the California Military Academy's class valedictorian at 20 (he was then deployed to Watts I two weeks later).
His many occupations include having worked as a Construction Lineman for Pacific Bell. a Tank Company Commander, a Retail Manager, a Corporate Trainer, an Associate Dean, and founder of WESTEC Training and AIM Flight School. An active leader in Rotary, he has now turned his attention and considerable talents to his writing.

WHEN IT HAPPENED, the heartrending drama at Convict Lake made international headlines. It was the most significant event to occur there since 1871 when a real-life Wild West shootout earned Convict Lake its name. In addition to the powerful and page-turning emergency, the events that led up to the Convict Lake rescue reveal a larger story that continues to haunt our affairs today.
