A fourth generation area resident, Richard Roux lives with his wife and daughter in Bakersfield.
Richard is a history teacher at Centennial High. He earned a BA and MA in History, as well as a MA in Education, all from CSU Bakersfield. Richard is greatly interested in researching and writing local history.
His first book, Bootleggers, Booze, and Busts: Prohibition in Kern County, 1919-1933, is a product of over seven years of research.
With the passage of the Eighteenth Amendment and the Volstead Act a bridge of enforcement was developed transmitting National policy into local action-enforcement of Prohibition became the responsibility of Federal, County, and local police agencies.
